Invisible (lingual) braces

Effective and discreet: lingual braces are fixed braces, only invisible

With lingual fixed braces, the brackets are attached to the inside of the teeth. These are therefore almost invisible.

Advantages of lingual braces

Invisible treatment: The biggest advantage of lingual braces is that they are placed on the inside of the teeth and are practically invisible from the outside.

Comfortable: Although there may be an initial familiarisation period, lingual braces are generally comfortable and cause less irritation to the cheeks and lips compared to conventional brackets.

Wide range of applications: Lingual braces can be used in many cases, from simple to complex malocclusions.

Disadvantages of lingual braces

It is important to note that oral hygiene is more difficult with lingual braces.
Therefore, they are not suitable for everyone. Initially, irritation of the tongue may also occur, which is why a certain adjustment period is required.
As with all fixed braces, there may be some initial sensitivity to pressure until the teeth and jaw have become accustomed to the new situation.

Costs

The costs here are based on the type of orthodontic treatment, the duration of the treatment and the materials used. For this reason, we cannot make a generalised statement about the costs. However, such treatment for children is subsidised by many health insurance companies.

The additional payment for lingual braces is significantly higher than for external brackets.
Even with many private insurances, the additional costs for the brackets from the inside must be borne by the insured themselves.

Treatment

Firstly, we clarify during an initial examination whether this type of fixed braces is suitable for you. A customised treatment plan is then drawn up, taking into account the duration and extent of the necessary corrections.

During treatment, you will attend regular check-ups to monitor progress and make adjustments. There are usually 4 to 6 weeks between appointments. Slight misalignments can sometimes be corrected in 3 to 6 months. Major orthodontic treatment can take between 18 months and 2 years, depending on the complexity of the malocclusion.

After successful treatment, the braces are removed and the treatment result is stabilised with a fixed retainer and braces. By correcting misaligned teeth, problems such as tooth decay, gum disease and jaw problems can be avoided.
So don’t hesitate to arrange a non-binding examination appointment with us.
